Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

Washington, DC (KROC AM News) - "I wanted to share an update about my health."
That’s the opening to a social media post from Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar as she reveals she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
Klobuchar found out after a routine mammogram at Mayo Clinic in February.
After receiving the diagnosis of Stage 1A breast cancer, she writes that she “returned to Mayo and had a lumpectomy on the right breast which involved the removal of the cancer. In May, I completed a course of radiation treatment, and after additional follow-up visits, it was determined in August that the treatment went well.”
Klobuchar notes “Studies have found that thousands of people who missed their mammogram due to the pandemic may be living with undetected breast cancer.” She hopes her situation serves as a reminder of the “value of routine health checkups, exams, and follow-through.”
