We are so proud to be celebrating KFIL's 50th anniversary!  The FCC officially licensed KFIL to begin broadcasting June 27, 1966.  Fifty years!  Preston Mayor Kurt Reicks has proclaimed June 27, 2016 as KFIL Day in the City of Preston.  Thank you, Mayor Reicks, members of Preston City Council, and City Administrator Joe Hoffman for bestowing this honor on KFIL.  We are all so appreciative.  We are planning an anniversary open house in mid-August.  We'll keep everyone apprised of the details.
Mayor Reicks' proclamation reads:
Whereas, on June 27, 1966, KFIL Radio was officially licensed by the FCC to begin broadcasting in the Preston Community; and
Whereas, KFIL provides the Preston area with music, news, agricultural reporting and broadcasts of Minnesota Twins baseball; and
Whereas, KFIL provides what is widely regarded as exceptional coverage of high school sports events; and
Whereas, KFIL partners with the Fillmore Central High School to produce and air the "Highlights in Review" radio show.  Now in its 48th year, the show is a wonderful opportunity for area students to gain invaluable broadcast journalism experience; and
Whereas, KFIL continues to be a valued corporate citizen by providing a much-needed public service and employing many Preston citizens over the past 50 years.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Mayor Kurt E. Reicks, hereby declare June twenty-seventh, two-thousand and sixteen, as KFIL Day in the City of Preston.
Be it further resolved that the Key to the City of Preston shall be awarded to KFIL/Townsquare Media, a trusted friend, partner and landmark institution of the community.
signed by the Honorable Kurt E. Reicks, Mayor
