Country Music Hall of Fame member, Kris Kristofferson, was born this date in 1936 in Brownsville, Texas.

"Lucille" by Kenny Rogers hits #1 on the charts and becomes his first gold single in 1977.

The #1 Billboard country single in 1991 was Garth Brooks "The Thunder Rolls".  In 1996, the spot was held by Tracy Lawrence and "Time Marches On".

Toby Keith opened his I Love This Bar and Grill in Oklahoma City in 2005.  And in 2011, Glen Campbell, in an interview for People magazine, announced that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
