Long Prison Term For Rochester Man In Major Meth Case

St Paul (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who admitted being part of a large illegal drug organization has been given a long prison sentence.
The US Attorney’s office says 40-year-old John Netherton was sentenced Friday to 260 months in federal prison. He pleaded guilty last September to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Netherton - also known as “Big John” and “Wicked One” - was one of several people named as suspects in the case.
The case included a major bust in Rochester in 2019.
According to court documents, from May 2019 through August 2019, Netherton coordinated and facilitated the delivery of methamphetamine from co-conspirator Miguel Zamora. Netherton also distributed methamphetamine to sub-distributors and collected funds from the sale of methamphetamine.
Two others charged in the case were sentenced earlier. Jacob Paul Williams was sentenced to 180 months in prison and Zamora was sentenced to 120 years. Co-conspirators Joshua Alexander Sazo, Nicholas John Hanson, Jason Edwards Hoffman, Deja Lee Benton, Andrew Robert Berndt, and Kayleigh Rea Todd have all pleaded guilty and are pending sentencing.
News update: Three selected as finalists for interim superintendent of Rochester schools.
