Thursday night on Southeast Minnesota's Sports Leader, we brought you more high school boys basketball. The Spring Grove Lions got the big win 80-20 over the Houston Hurricanes.

The home Lions scored the first seven points of the game before Houston's Wesley Johnson got inside for the first bucket for the Hurricanes. After that, some tough defense forced turnovers to a 20-0 run for Spring Grove, on the way to a 44-7 halftime lead. Spring Grove forced Houston to turn the ball over at double the rate they scored in the first half.

In the second half, Wesley Johnson got going for a couple buckets early, and the starters were in for Spring Grove to start. After a 20-2 run and a big lead, they sat again. Though the Lions took off the press, they were still guarding tight in their half-court defense. Some great strong passes created open shots, and the Lions made eight 3-pointers in their 80-20 win.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Houston Hurricanes was Wesley Johnson. Wesley scored six of his eight points in the second half.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Spring Grove Lions was Brock Schuttemeier. Brock led the way with 19 points, and though I couldn't keep tally of all his rebounds (many on the offensive glass), he was at or near a double double with them.

The Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball was awarded to someone Coach Grinde was talking to me about before the game. Noah Myrah put in some work, scoring 17 and was active on the offensive boards as well.

Coming up Friday night, we have high school girls basketball on the air! Tune in as Caledonia takes on Rushford-Peterson!
