Jana Kramer Responds to Critics of Her Postpartum Figure
Jana Kramer just gave birth to her second child, son Jace Joseph, a week ago—and should be concentrating solely on the joy of her new addition. However, the singer is frustrated by comments about her postpartum figure on social media, and she's taking to her own account to let fans know she's had it with the negativity.
The critical comments apparently started when Kramer shared a photo of herself and husband Mike Caussin out and about. In the shot, she is wearing form-fitting clothes and looks remarkably in shape for just having had a child days earlier. Instead of lauding this, some commenters took her to task with critical speculation as to how she might have lost her baby weight so quickly.
While many fans rose to her defense, Kramer herself decided she wasn't going to remain silent. She posted a shot of herself lifting her shirt to show a partial view of her abdomen, and fired off a response to the critics. "No I didn’t get a tummy tuck, no I don’t have a personal chef, no I don’t have fortunes so I didn’t train everyday,” she notes. “Yes I had a c section, yes I am still in pain and on meds but I do have a high pain tolerance. I have had 3 stomach surgeries before this (appendix, gallbladder, and c section)..In that photo I had on a belly bandit wrapped tightly, and high waisted pants and wow here I am defending myself. Why?!!”
Kramer went on to ask her fans: "Why do we women have to compare ourselves to each other and then shame? Our bodies are all beautiful and created differently, they heal different, they react different, they simply look different. Why do we need to shame someone for not looking a certain way? Or feel bad about ourselves for looking a certain way?”
She urged women everywhere to "be kinder" and be respectful of the "different journey" that each mother takes in recovery from childbirth.
Kramer's son, who arrived on Nov. 29, joins big sister Jolie Rae (aged 2). The baby's birth is a welcome blessed event for Kramer and Caussin, who have weathered several difficult years. They separated in August 2016 but reunited one year later and renewed their vows. In announcing that she was pregnant, Kramer shared that she had suffered five total miscarriages, including two after trying IVF.
