
Rochester Man Serving Jail Sentence With Work Release Wanted for Escaping Custody
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- An arrest warrant has been issued for a Rochester man who has escaped from custody.

The warrant, filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday, indicates he has been out of custody since March 10.
He and a group of other detainees were granted permission to leave the Work Release Facility and did not return with the other detainees, according to the warrant.
39-Year-old Olmsted County Jail Detainee Charged With Escape from Custody
Court records indicate 39-year-old Benjamen Jacob Lopez was sentenced to 364 days in jail with work release privileges in December of last year.
He was convicted of gross misdemeanor Financial Transaction Fraud.

Lopez’s sentence included work release privileges. The complaint says he signed a work release contract on December 8 of last year.

Work release staff placed a phone call to Lopez on the night of March 10 but he did not answer and staff was unable to leave a voicemail, the warrant says.
Staff reported him missing to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office on the night of March 11.
As of April 30, Lopez had not returned to the Work Release Facility and was not in custody anywhere in Minnesota, according to the court document.
The warrant charges him with gross misdemeanor escape from custody.
