Rochester Man Accused of Throwing Urine at Detention Deputy, Threatening Police Officer Sent to Prison

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Convictions regarding two crimes against law enforcement have resulted in prison time for a Rochester man.

36-year-old Dion Desmond Dower was charged in both cases last year and was convicted in December. He received his sentencing on Tuesday.

Officer Threats and Assault Convictions Result in Prison Sentence for Rochester Man

Court documents say Dower was accused of throwing urine onto the face and chest of a detention deputy, who was bringing him breakfast at the Olmsted County Jail on the morning of August 30.

Dower told an investigator that he threw the urine at the deputy because of an issue with receiving his medication the previous night, according to the complaint. 

The urine incident happened while Dower was in custody for a threats, assault and property damage case. 

Officer Threats Conviction

He was accused of threatening a Rochester police officer who was transporting him to the Olmsted County Jail following an alleged assault at a day shelter in Rochester on the morning of August 18, the charges in that case say. 

Dower was convicted of fourth-degree assault in the urine case and felony threats for the incident at the day shelter. 

He received a 21-month prison sentence for the threats case and a 17-month prison sentence for the incident at the Olmsted County Jail. 

Court records indicate he is being allowed to serve those sentences simultaneously.
