The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday morning, indicates the bust stems from a disorderly conduct incident at a local shooting range.

Rochester police made the bust while executing a search warrant on Tuesday.

Rochester Man Busted With Guns and Drugs After Disorderly Conduct Call at Coyote Creek Outdoors

42-year-old Adolph Donta Valentine of Rochester is charged with one count each of first-degree drug sales and first-degree drug possession and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition.

The charges say Valentine and a group of three others had rented pistols to shoot on the gun range at Coyote Creek Outdoors in Rochester on February 16. They had each provided a driver’s license.

The court document says Valentine became upset when staff would not shut down the range to retrieve a paper target he had shot at and began swearing at staff members, prompting them to call police.

The group had left by the time officers arrived at the business. Authorities learned that Valentine, who used his credit card to rent the pistols and ammunition, was a convicted felon and began investigating where he lived, the complaint says.

Staff also showed officers video of Valentine at the range.

Investigators then obtained search warrants to look for Valentine’s credit card and the clothing he was seen wearing in the video.

Drugs and Guns Found During Search Warrants

Police identified two possible addresses and executed one of the warrants at Sutton Place Apartments and placed Valentine under arrest.

During the search, law enforcement found a Taurus 9mm pistol, 79 grams of cocaine, 10 pills that tested positive for amphetamine, $1,000 in cash, a “white powder cutting agent” and other items indicative of drug sale activity, the complaint says.

Authorities executed a second search warrant at an address associated with Valentine located in the 3700 block of Willow Ridge Dr. SW. During that search, investigators found a “Ruger pistol chambered in 9mm,” the charges say.

Court records indicate Valentine had served a 158-month prison sentence for a first-degree drug conviction in Olmsted County in 2013.

Valentine made his first court appearance in the new case on Thursday morning. His bail was set at $200,000 without conditions and he’s due back in court later this month.
