St. Paul, MN (KROC AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton has authorized over $500,000 in disaster relief for Houston County after the severe flash flooding happened in late August.

Dayton authorized and announced today that funds from the State Disaster Assistance Contingency Account for emergency relief in Houston County, valued at $529,363.

The relief comes after torrential rains brought severe flash flooding to the Houston County area from August 27th to August 28th.

The heavy flooding caused damages to area parks and roads, and the relief will help aid repairs. Under Minnesota law, the state will reimburse 75 percent of eligible costs for public infrastructure repairs and clean-up, with local governments responsible for covering the remaining 25 percent.
