Hot Shooting Leads Saints Past Rushford-Peterson
The St. Charles Saints had hot shooting right out of the gate and didn't turn back as they topped the Rushford-Peterson Trojans 72-45 Tuesday night in Rushford.
Chase Walters connected on six first-half 3-pointers to lead the Saints to a 26-6 lead early in the game and an eventual 72-45 win. The Trojans scored the first two points of the game, but the Saints went on a 30-4 run including hitting on nine 3-pointers to help increase their lead.
The Saints took a 40-16 lead into the half behind Walters' incredible first-half performance. It didn't matter where the Saints were shooting from, the ball was just finding a way to get to the bottom of the net.
Walters finished with 22 while Kooper Vaughn added 20 to lead the Saints to victory.
The Saints defense excelled, too, as they were able to collapse on the Trojans' inside game and make scoring difficult early.
The Trojans got 15 points from Justin Ruberg and another 14 from Luke O'Hare to lead the offense, but Rushford-Peterson struggled to get things going until the second half.
The Saints moved to 7-6 with the win while the Trojans fell to 7-7 with the loss.
