If everything goes according to plan, come May, business partners Danika Hodgman and Miguel Aguilera will open a new business, Hidden Pines Bar and Grill at Zumbro Valley Golf Course in Historic Mantorvillem Minnesota. Right now they're renovating the space, making great use of the huge windows overlooking the golf course.

What kind of food will Hidden Pines Bar & Grill serve?
"We'll be serving comfort food," said Dannica Hodgan. "Quick food that everyone knows likes and in a casual atmosphere that anybody can enjoy." That'll include lots of appetizers, flatbread pizzas, burgers ("really good burgers" throws in Miguel), dinner salads, wings, and more.
The idea came up when Miguel Aguilera was golfing.
"I was golfing one day, not very well, but I was golfing. And afterward, I was like, gosh, I'm hungry. And I realized that I had to, we had to go to either Casey's to get a quick pizza, or we had to go into Byron or Rochester to get some food. And it just all made sense. It just all made sense."
They say necessity is the mother of invention, but I think it should be adjusted to hunger in the mother of invention.
The Business Partners With Lots of Experience In the Front and Back of the House
Miguel Aguilera says his experience began as a young kid, with relatives that had restaurants like Victoria's and The Tap House.
"You know, growing up around Victoria, seeing family work in the restaurant business, I kind of grew up around it cause my parents worked there. So I did, I've done it all. I tarted dishwashing, food running, serving tables, and eventually got into managing."
Danika Hodgman grew up and went to high school in Mantorville (She's a KOMET!) and then worked at the Tap House. When the Tap House West End opened, she met Miguel, the manager, and learned about opening new restaurants. She says she was, "working under some awesome leaders and great bosses that worked alongside us, sharing their knowledge."
The two then had an opportunity last summer to open up a sand bar on Gull Lake at one of the Brainerd, Minnesota resorts. The cold winter and some homesickness brought them back to SE Minnesota and in May, they'll be opening Hidden Pines Bar and Grill.
