Governor Dayton Faces Surgery in Rochester This Week
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton is scheduled to have his prostate removed this week at Mayo Clinic.
Dayton announced last month that Mayo Clinic doctors had determined he had prostate cancer and he decided to have the gland removed rather than undergo radiation treatment.
The operation is scheduled for this Thursday at Mayo.
Dayton expects to be discharged Friday and has said he will resume his duties next Monday.
After making the announcement about his condition, Dayton was asked if he is still able to handle the responsibilities of the state’s top elected office. He replied, “I think I am. And if I don’t, I won’t continue, but I believe I am.”
