Led by a dominate pitching performance in game one, and the long ball in game two, the Chatfield Gophers took both games of a double header against the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs in Three Rivers Conference softball action.

It was a pitchers dual in game one, as Lexi Chase and Hayley Dessner went inning for inning until the Gophers were able to break things open in the fourth. Alana Goetzinger reached on an error and made it all the way to third. Abby Nosbisch cashed in with an RBI single to give the Gophers a 1-0 lead.

The Gophers added another run in the fifth when Britney Fretland knocked in Lexi Chase on an RBI single. In the bottom of the fifth the Bulldogs got one back on an RBI double from Ellie Miller, but Bulldogs were unable to solve Chase in the seventh, who finished with 15 strikeouts.

Dessner allowed just one earned run in the loss, and struck out four.

Leading 4-2, the Gophers were able to load the bases up in the fifth and eventually push four runs across to take an 8-2 lead. PEM added two of their own in the sixth when Lauren Boyum knocked in Christi Anderson, and then eventually came around and scored herself to make it 8-4. The Gophers added another in the seventh for a 9-4 win.

Taylor Nelson and Belle Berg each made some fantastic plays at the shortstop position to earn POGs for the game.
