Five Years Probation For Involvement in Rochester Shooting

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The second of the two men charged in connection with a shooting in Rochester two years ago was sentenced this morning.

31-year-old Davoren Broussard was given a stayed 15-month prison sentence and was placed on probation for five years. The Coon Rapids man was accused of pointing a gun at the face of a 22-year-old man and threatening him outside a home in the 600 block of Circle Court Southwest the night of March 19, 2020.

Broussard, who previously lived in Brooklyn Park, earlier entered an Alford plea to a charge of threats of violence-reckless disregard terror. In exchange, a second-degree assault charge and a charge of illegal possession of a firearm were dismissed. The Alford plea means Broussard does not admit guilt but acknowledges there is sufficient evidence to find him guilty.

A second man, 24-year-old Dashaun Pittman of Rochester, entered a guilty plea last December to illegal possession of a firearm and was sentenced to five years in prison. The victim in the case ended up being shot in the leg and told Rochester police that Pittman was the shooter. Court records indicate Pittman later told investigators he was waving a gun around when it "accidentally went off."
