The Fillmore Central/Lanesboro Falcons used a quick burst of offense and some excellent pitching to earn a 12-0 win over Rushford-Peterson in the Section 1A East Subsection Quarterfinal Monday.

Six Falcons crossed the plate in Preston in the first inning, including a two-RBI double by Hannah Storlie and a two-RBI single from Sierra Rustad. The Falcons took that 6-0 lead and ran with it.

Falcons starter Krista Jorgenson was dynamite on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings, struck out three and allowed just two hits.

The Falcons pushed two more across the plate in the third, then came up big in the fourth, as Jorgenson drove in two runs with an RBI single, to help the Falcons to the 12-0 win.

Trojans' starter Peyton Hoiness threw the ball well, but the difference was that the Falcons hitters were able to find the ground, while the Trojans hit the ball hard right at Falcon defenders.

Hoiness collected a hit, as well as Isabelle Olson to lead the Trojans' offense.

The win sends the Falcons to the Subsection Semifinals tonight, as they take on #1 Wabasha-Kellogg at 5 pm.
