Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - A shooting at a rural residence near Oxbow Park has left one person dead and another in jail.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Schueller says it happened just after 10:30 pm Sunday in the 5000 block of County Road 105.

Schueller says the victim went outside to check a suspicious vehicle on the property when he was shot in the upper chest. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. A gun was found in a nearby structure and a short while later, the suspected shooter was located and taken into custody without incident.

Schueller says although the victim “received immediate medical care, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. “

Schueller says officers from the Rochester Police Department, Kasson Police
