Country Music History April 9

The weekend is almost here - let's hear a big cheer!  Happy birthday to country music legend, Carl Perkins, born in Tiptonville, Tennessee in 1932.  Carl's rockabilly style shined in "Blue Suede Shoes".

"Famous Last Words of a Fool" by George Strait reached #1 on the Billboard charts in 1988.

1991  "Honky Tonk Angel" is Patty Loveless' first gold album.

Faith Hill began her first solo tour at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis in 1999.

And in 1998, Tammy Wynette is eulogized at a public memorial service at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
