Happy birthday to country great Merle Haggard born today's date in Bakersfield, California in 1937. Haggard was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994.
1991 "Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House" by Garth Brooks hits #1 on the country Billboard Chart.
1992 "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus is released by Mercury records.
1998 Tammy Wynette died at her home in Nashville. Wynette was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame five months after her death.
2013 George Jones performed what turned out to be the last concert of his life at Knoxville Coliseum in Tennessee.
2014 Miranda Lambert won three Academy of Country Music Awards. Female Vocalist of the Year; Single Record for "Mama's Broken Heart", and Vocal Event for her duet with Keith Urban "We Were Us"
