1977  Kenny Rogers and "Lucille" reached #1 on the country singles Billboard chart, his first time.

1956  Johnny Cash recorded "I Walk The Line" at Sun Recording Studio in Memphis.

Happy birthday to Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris, born in 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama.  And to Buddy Jewell, born this date in 1961 in Osceola, Arkansas.  Buddy was the first "Nashville Star" competition winner in 2003.
