Chris Stapleton Releasing Not One, But Two Albums in 2017
Chris Stapleton fans will have plenty of new music to keep them happy in 2017. The breakout country star has announced plans to release two new albums.
The new albums are linked together conceptually. Stapleton recorded both of them at RCA's legendary Studio A in Nashville, and at a press event on Wednesday (April 5) at the studio, he announced that From A Room: Volume 1 is set for release on May 5, while From A Room: Volume 2 will see release later in 2017.
The follow-up to Stapleton's smash 2015 debut album Traveller, From A Room: Volume 1 features nine new songs, eight of which Stapleton co-wrote with some of his go-to collaborators. The new tracks include "Broken Halos," (which Stapleton debuted at CRS in February), "Second One to Know," "Death Row" and "Without Your Love," all co-written by Stapleton and former SteelDrivers bandmate Mike Henderson. Stapleton debuted "Second One to Know" live on television during the 2017 ACM Awards on April 2.
The album also features "Either Way," which Stapleton performed Wednesday night, as well as "I Was Wrong,” co-written with Craig Wiseman, and "Them Stems," a three-way collaboration with Jimmy Stewart and Shawn Camp. He also covers Willie Nelson's "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning."
“I’m real proud of this record,” Stapleton told the assembled reporters (quote via the Tennessean). “We made it right here ... like the last one. We camped out in here … and had a lot of fun recording things.”
Stapleton has also extended his All-American Road Show Tour all the way through August. He'll be joined on the road by support acts including Brothers Osborne, Anderson East, Margo Price, Lucie Silvas and Brent Cobb.
