Charges-Minnesota Superintendent Was Drunk in School Vehicle
Karlstad, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Superintendent of a Minnesota school district is in hot water after he was found last weekend sitting in a school district vehicle on the grounds of a school in Karlstad with a blood-alcohol-concentration that was tested at more than two times the legal limit.
A criminal complaint filed in Kittson County Court charges 55-year-old Michael Gadbois with a gross misdemeanor DWI count along with open bottle and possession of alcohol on school grounds, which are both misdemeanor offenses. The court documents say a Kittson County Deputy was on patrol Saturday evening when he spotted Gadbois sitting in the driver’s seat of a minivan registered to the Tri-County School District parked outside the Tri-County High School with his head resting between the steering wheel and the door.
When the deputy went to check if the Superintendent was in medical distress, he noted the man’s eyes were very bloodshot and he detected the strong odor of alcohol. Gadbois was arrested and taken to the Kittson County Jail after a breath test put his blood-alcohol-concentration at .21
The criminal complaint indicates Gadbois had two previous DWI arrests in Alaska. One occurred in 2015 and the other in 2017.
Karlstad is a small town in northwestern Minnesota, about 50 miles northeast of Grand Forks and 25 miles south of the Canadian border.
