Caledonia Meets Familiar Foe In State Semifinals
The Caledonia Warriors have won 66 games in a row, and they draw a tough, familiar foe in the Class AA State Football Tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Warriors will put their win streak up against the champions of Section 8, Barnesville. Barnesville met with Caledonia in the State Title game a year ago, where the Warriors won their fourth straight title after a 21-0 win.
Caledonia brings back their starting Quarterback in Noah King and some elite pass-catchers in Eli King, Cole Kronebusch, Donnie Lakey, and more. The defense is what is scariest of Caledonia. They allowed just 14 points in Pipestone and have given up just 6.2 points per game.
The Warriors know they have a tough task ahead of them with Barnesville. The Trojans are 12-0 and coming off a 28-6 win over Osakis. Barnesville met Caledonia in the championship a year ago, and also fell to the Warriors in the 2016 semifinals 55-20.
Barnesville's offense has been good, scoring over 46 points per game this season, and allowing just over 8 on defense. Can they go toe-to-toe with the Warriors? Everyone will find out Friday afternoon, with kickoff scheduled for 11:30 am from U.S Bank Stadium.
