The Plainview-Elgin-Milllville Bulldogs used their high-pressure defense, and some great transition basketball to get the 82-36 victory over the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals on Cool 104.

The Bulldogs led wire-to-wire in this one, jumping out to a 12-5 lead early in the game. The Cardinals looked to make a quick comeback, cutting the lead to three at 15-12 after Myia Ruzek connected on a lay up.

The Bulldogs were able to push their lead to double-digits after Macy drove to the lane and connected on a lay up, drawing the foul and connecting on the free throw. She finished with 11 points.

The Bulldogs went into the break with a 43-23 lead, and continued to build on that lead right in the second half. The Bulldogs were utilizing a 2-2-1 full-court press to cause turnovers and get lay ups on the other end. When the Cardinals were able to break the pressure, they got solid looks around the rim, especially from Ruzek, who finished with a team-high 16 points.

The Bulldogs were led by Morgan Shindelar and Emmaline Polson, who led the team in scoring with a combined 38 points. Polson was able to get offensive rebounds and get to the line, connecting on 10 free-throws.

Shindelar finished with three three-pointers, and played a huge role in jump starting their offense in the second half. The Bulldogs jumped their lead to 54-30 early in the second half, with the help of Shindelar and Polson. Baighley Standings finished with 17 points, connecting on four three-pointers. This victory was the 52nd-straight home victory for the Bulldogs.

The Cardinals got solid play from Hallie Cady, who finished with eight points, and Josie Greden hit two three-pointers to finish with six points.

The Bulldogs move on to the quarterfinals of Section 1AA play, and will play on Tuesday at the Mayo Civic Arena.
