Announced yesterday, Miguel Sano of the Minnesota Twins won American League Player of the Week Honors. The slugging third baseman hit three homers, got 11 hits, drove in 11, and scored 4 runs, batting .524 last week.

The 23-year-old's slash line this year?.316/.443/.684 ! That 1.127 OPS is unreal for a guy younger than me! This game is really for the young athletes!

I'll say it. Sano is my favorite Twins player. I do like to see the ball put in play and players scoring from first base on a double, but a big slugger that can hit the ball forever away is what you need now and then. The thing is, he doesn't just mash, he can look at some pitches and walk, or make some impressive plays at third base. A strong swing and a strong arm create a fun player to watch.

Along with Sano, we have another big slugger in Kennys Vargas getting some at-bats, and with Buxton's batting looking up the past week, the bottom of the order isn't bad either. This should be a fun team to watch for the next few years.
