Alan Jackson Takes Fans Back With Classic Hits at 2017 CMAs
Alan Jackson proved he's still got it with his performance of “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” at the 2017 CMA Awards, getting nearly the whole arena to sing along to his 1990 hit.
The artist wore his signature cowboy hat and a western-inspired jacket, singing the fun tune to thousands of adoring country fans — many of whom his career influenced before they became artists themselves. Jackson performed the song joyfully, even tearing up toward the end at the sight of so many mouthing the words back to him as he sang.
He later returned to the stage for the closing number, “Don’t Rock the Jukebox,” for which he brought out co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley to join in. The song was another fan favorite, with everyone from Chris Stapleton to Thomas Rhett singing along as the show wrapped.
“Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” first appeared on Jackson's debut album, Here in the Real World, and hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” was the title track to Jackson’s second album, marking a No. 1 hit for the country icon.
Jackson has just released a nostalgic new single called “The Older I Get,” slated to appear on a new album in 2018.
