A Perfect Season For Lourdes
Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - The Eagles were soaring again Saturday in Minneapolis.
The Rochester Lourdes football team beat Fairmont 24-7 Saturday at US Bank Stadium to bring home the AAA state tournament trophy.
The Eagles led 7-0 at the end of the first half and Fairmont tied the game in its first drive of the second half. But Lourdes took control after that as senior running back Zach Jungels scored twice. Jungels shredded Fairmont’s defense with 234 rushing yards.
The last time the Eagles lost a game was a blowout loss (61-29)
to St Croix Lutheran in last year’s state tournament quarterfinals.
Lourdes has won four AAA state titles since 2010 (2010, 2014, 2016, 2018). The Eagles also won e Class A championship in 1979.
Southeast Minnesota football teams did very well at the state tournament this year as Spring Grove, Caledonia and Owatonna also won their championship games.
