4 Shootings in Minneapolis Leave 1Dead and 6 Wounded
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Four shootings over a span of less than 12 hours in Minneapolis left one person dead and a half dozen other people wounded.
The fatal shooting, which was the 72nd homicide in Minneapolis this year, was reported around 1130 Friday night at a residence in South Minneapolis. A news release from the Minneapolis Police Department indicates an altercation between two men "escalated into gunfire" and resulted in the death of one of the men.
The first shooting was reported around 3 PM Friday outside a business on East Lake Street near the interchange with Highway 55. MNCRIME.com says a man, a woman, and a teenage boy suffered life-threatening wounds in what was described as a drive-by shooting.
Another man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening wounds following a shooting at around 9 PM. MNCRIME.com indicated the shooting may have occurred during a carjacking.
Minneapolis police then responded shortly before 1:30 AM to downtown Minneapolis where two teenagers with gunshot wounds were found near the Minneapolis Central Library and only about a block away from the Minneapolis Police Fourth Precinct. MNCRIME.com reported their injuries were non-life-threatening and occurred when gunfire erupted during a physical altercation.
At the last report, no one had been arrested for any of the shootings.
