Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Cougars Trounce Burros
On Tuesday night, KFIL brought you some Southeast Conference basketball. The Mabel-Canton Cougars came out with the big win on Parents Night.
Parents Night did delay our broadcast, and it was a packed gym with Lanesboro coming to town. Once we got going the Cougars scored the first six points before Lanesboro's Leah Ruen cut that lead in half with a shot good from three-point range...
Super Bowl Beer Ban?
We're still a week away from Super Bowl Sunday, and things are getting real. The Atlanta Falcons, with no Super Bowl titles are battling the New England Patriots, winners of four big games. The folks in the New England area think pretty highly of their football team, and some don't think Atlanta fans really deserves recognition...
Last Second KFIL Thriller!
KFIL brought you another great boys basketball game on the airwaves Saturday night! A one-point game at halftime ended in a last-second game winner from Trey Hungerholt for the LeRoy-Ostrander win!
WIth an early start before 5:00, the home Cardinals got on the board with 5 before Houston answered right back for our first tie of the ballgame...
Cougars Complete Sweep
The Mabel-Canton boys basketball team was victorious in the second game of Friday's KFIL doubleheader.
This one was a fun one to end the night. Early on, it was back and forth, with LeRoy-Ostrander changing the lead for the second time after 2 of the first three Cardinals shots from the field were from beyond the arc, one by Seth Royston, one Zach Hanson...
Cougars Girls Beat Cardinals

Twins Winter Caravan: Photos!
Last night, I made it up to Rochester to see the Minnesota Twins Winter Caravan. It was a great night with some great folks: players, broadcasters, executives, and fans of the team packed in to get excited for the new season.
I can't wait to listen to a new season of Twins baseball on the radio this year. Dee...
Twins Star Staying?
The Minnesota Twins went through many off-season talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a potential trade of Brian Dozier, but it looks like he will stay. The Twins were hoping to bring a package of pitchers for their slugging second baseman, but it looks like that trade is definitely off the table with the Dodgers' trade for Rays second baseman Logan Forsythe...
Another Viking Pro Bowler!
The Vikings have another Pro Bowler! Linebacker Anthony Barr makes his second Pro Bowl in his first three seasons. Some of Barr's stats might show that the third-year UCLA man just completed his least statistically impressive season. Barr finished the season with 70 tackles, with a pair of sacks and a forced fumble on the season...

With the 2017 Hall of Fame Class announced Wednesday night, it's time to look ahead to next year. Players must be retired for six seasons to be on the ballot, and there is also a Veterans Committee that elects from the Golden Era every three years...
