KFIL brought you another great boys basketball game on the airwaves Saturday night! A one-point game at halftime ended in a last-second game winner from Trey Hungerholt for the LeRoy-Ostrander win!

WIth an early start before 5:00, the home Cardinals got on the board with 5 before Houston answered right back for our first tie of the ballgame. The Houston Hurricanes did a lot of passing, and got some open shots to take an 11-9 lead halfway through the half. There were four ties and the fourth lead change of the game gave the LeRoy-Ostrander boys the 15-14 lead at the break.

Houston changed the lead again, starting the second half on a 7-0 run and a 21-15 lead. There was a long time without scoring, and both teams were turning the ball right back and forth for a stretch, then Houston extended the lead. With the visitors leading 32-24, the home Cardinals went on a 7-0 run of their own, coming within a point with a big three-pointer! A stretch later, Houston regained a two-possession lead 38-34. Sean Lohuis delivered one of two free throws in his last trip to the line and there we had a one-point game again.

LeRoy-Ostrander was in foul trouble all night; Sean Lohuis and Riley Olson fouled out for the Cardinals. James Hongerholt of Houston fouled out. The final foul of the game gave Houston a chance to tie or take the lead. Only the second of two free throws was made to tie the game 39-39. LeRoy-Ostrander got the ball to their side and had to set up for the last shot. Trey Hungerholt drove in left side, laid the ball up and scored as time expired! The Cardinals won it by a score of 41-39!

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Houston Hurricanes was Wesley Johnson. The senior guard had the ball in his hands often and ended the contest with 13 points.

For the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals, Trey Hungerholt was the KFIL Subway Player of the Game. He of the game-winner scored 20 in the contest and was active on the offensive glass as well

The Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball for tonight belongs to Sean Lohuis. The LeRoy-Ostrander junior knocked the ball away on defense a few times and was the only Cardinal to make more than one free throw on the night-shooting from the charity stripe was a struggle for both sides Saturday night.
