Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Feeling Nostalgic?
I have always been a man of routine, even in my childhood. My favorite show was "Arthur" on PBS Kids. Well, days go by and I can't always watch now and PBS hadn't been showing as many of the "classic" episodes. Now I'm able to watch the classics over the air and online...
Not Quite In
The Hall of Fame announcement comes in tonight and there are a lot of very good players on the ballot this year. Who is probably not making it in? Thanks to MLB's YouTube for highlights.
Lee Smith
I thought for a while Lee Smith would get in the Hall...
What Makes a Hall of Famer?
Sunday night, I posted who I thought might be a shoe-in for enshrinement in Cooperstown. Here are some other interesting candidates that have made cases for themselves for entry into the Hall.
Roger Clemens
The Rocket played 24 years in the Majors, finishing with 354 wins and picking up 4,672 strikeouts in the process...
Who’s Hall Worthy?
The Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be announced on January 18th. The votes go members of the Baseball Writers Association of American (BBWAA). In the future, all members will have to reveal their votes (partly because nobody ever gets in unanimously, no matter how obvious the selection is), but this year it is optional...
Melt Windshield Ice
After all the different precipitation we have gotten the past couple days, ice accumulated on my windshield. That's one thing - I can scrape some ice and sit in my car a couple minutes to warm up the windshield. But this ice got down in there so I couldn't use my windshield wipers-which is problematic with all the gunk on the road being sprayed from oncoming traffic...
Twins Get Some Pitching
The Minnesota Twins have been in talks with the Dodgers for a trade to get some pitching. That hasn't worked out so far, so there have been a couple minor signings by the ball club. The Twins signed minor league contracts with veteran right-handers Ryan Vogelsong and Nick Tepesch...
American League History
On this date back in 1973, the American League adopted the designated hitter rule. The rule, if you are not aware, means that in the American League the pitcher does not hit. A player who does not play the field can hit and sit in the dugout when his team is on the field...
Alabama Punter Has Other Talents
The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers faced off in the College Football Championship Game Monday night. While that shows the schools have some good football players, those football players do other things than play the games. Punter JK Scott of Alabama showed his skills in a different category...
Packers Fans Petition
The Green Bay Packers beat the New York Giants on Sunday, and will move on to play the Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. While it should be a fun game to watch for fans around the country, Packers fans have a further request...
Friday Night Basketball, With A Special Guest
Friday night, KFIL brought you another boys basketball game. This one featured the St. Charles Saints, the Caledonia Warriors, and Isaac Fruechte!
Early on in this one, it was all Caledonia for an 8-0 lead, with Marten Morem leading the offense for the Warriors...
