Wanted Stewartville Sex Offender Returned to Olmsted County
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Stewartville man who was on the run for several weeks after being charged with sexually assaulting a young girl could appear in Olmsted County Court Friday.
An arrest warrant was issued in October for 24-year-old Majed Ijong and he was caught about a month later in California. He was booked at the Olmsted County jail Thursday night.
The criminal complaint filed against Ijong indicates the abuse began in September at the Stewartville home where he lived with his girlfriend, who is the mother of the girl.
Investigators became aware of the reported abuse Oct 13th and the girl was interviewed a few days later. It was learned that Ijong was at the local detox center Oct 16th but he was released before he could be taken into custody.
Shortly after the warrant was issued, authorities became aware that jong was in Las Vegas and that the girl’s mother was with him. When he was apprehended in Calif., it was believed the girl’s mother was still with him.
