Barron, WI (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester high school tennis coach made a court appearance today in Wisconsin and entered not guilty pleas to charges stemming from a police sting investigation conducted in June. A judge in Barron County then scheduled a two-day trial for 59-year-old Kevin Rust to take place in late February of next year.

Rust is charged with three felony child sex-related offenses stemming from his arrest in Rice Lake, Wisconsin after responding to an online ad posted by a police officer pretending to be a 15-year-old girl. The current Minnetonka resident remains free on $5,000 bail.

Rust coached the Lourdes High School tennis teams from 1982 through 2009 and only recently fired from a tennis coaching position at Benilde St. Margaret’s High School in the Twin Cities. The prominent Catholic school terminated his employment a day after the media first reported on the charges against Rust.
