Trial Ordered for Area ‘Swingers’ in Teen Sex Abuse Case
Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News) - A judge has ruled there is sufficient evidence to prosecute a Goodhue County couple on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and trying to recruit her into their “swinging lifestyle.”
After Wednesday's ruling, 45-year-old Michael Germain and his 49-year-old wife Heather entered not guilty pleas.
A November settlement conference was scheduled for the two. If a plea agreement is not worked out, they have been scheduled to stand trial in February.
According to the criminal complaints against the two, the self-described “swingers” were arrested after a search warrant was executed at their home in Goodhue last year. Investigators seized sexually explicit videos and images of the teenage victim. They also reportedly showed the Germains having sex with multiple males and females in a so-called “sex room” at their home.
Court documents indicate the room was in the attic above the couple’s detached garage.
The complaint says the abuse of the teenager occurred between March 2014 and March 2015
