Non-Traditional form of Travel from Midwest to California ‘One of the Most Beautiful’ in North America
Whenever I travel I either drive or I fly. However, traveling by train used to be the hot way to get places. While that's not nearly as popular nowadays, there are still options for traveling by train. One of those options takes you from the midwest to California in what's called "one of the most beautiful train trips in all of North America."
That's a big statement! It's right from the Amtrak website, that's who runs this train trip called the California Zephyr. They say that experienced travelers have said this train is absolutely beautiful, and I don't doubt it. I'm considering trying this out for a vacation at some point because it sounds super fun plus it would be different from all of your typical trips.
The trip will start in Chicago, so if you'd like you could drive down to Chicago, spend a weekend there, then catch the train. There are different options for rooms depending on the kind of train you have. You can select what room you need based on the number of people in your party. Then you're off!
During the trip, you'll go through cities like Denver and Salt Lake City before reaching your destination of Emeryville, which is right by San Francisco. You'll "climb through the heart of the Rockies, and further west through the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas". It sounds like a trip that would be extra amazing in the fall with all the changing colors!
In total, the trip takes about 51 hours and 20 minutes. Don't worry, your onboard meals are included in the price of your room.
