Today’s Baseball History Lesson

Play ball!  Tune in to KFIL this weekend as the Twins take on Seattle.  Friday 8:30 pregame; Saturday 7:30; and Sunday 2:30 in the afternoon.  Today in 1901, in the first American League game, Chicago beat Cleveland 8-2.  Attendance at Chicago Cricket Club was 14,000.  In 1965, New York Mets beat San Francisco Giants 7-6, earning the 3,000 victory as a manager for Casey Stengel.  And in 1996, Paul Molitor and Greg Myers each had 5 RBIs as the Twins set a team record for runs.  Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 24-11.  This was the most runs against the Tigers in eighty-four years.
