Talk about being a good boy: This Minnesota dog has just achieved an honor that no other dog in the country has ever won!

If you're a dog-lover, like I am, this story will hit you right in the feels. It's the story of Eebbers, who lives and works right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. And he just won a way-cool award, courtesy of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The TSA announced Friday, August 26, that Eebbers was just voted the winner of the TSA's 2022 Cutest Canine Contest! How cool is that?!? Eebbers, who's an 11-year-old explosive detection canine, works for the TSA at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Bloomington.

The TSA posted news of Eebbers win on Friday:

Last week, TSA held a nationwide social media contest on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and encouraged members of the public to vote for the agency’s “cutest canine.” Once all the votes were tallied, Eebbers emerged the winner. The contest was held in recognition of National Dog Day to acknowledge the important role TSA’s hardworking canines play in protecting the nation’s transportation system.

The TSA says Eebbers is a Vizsla-Labrador mix and works as a passenger screening canine (PSC)  at MSP. He and his handler screen travelers and their belongings for explosives at one of MSP's security checkpoints as an added layer of security.

Eebbers, who's worked at MSP for nearly 10 years, was born into TSA’s Puppy Program. He's named in memory of 19-year-old U.S. Army Pvt. James Ebbers, who passed away back in 2002 while serving with the 551st Military Police Company in Dijbuoti, Africa. He's the last remaining canine from the Puppy Program still working daily for TSA.

So, congratulations, Eebbers! And thanks for your hard work all these here helping to keep travelers safe as they leave and return to Minnesota. And speaking of award-winning Minnesota things, the Minnesota State Fair, running through Labor Day in Falcon Heights, is another one.
