Does it get more Minnesota than combining our home-state baseball hero with a  hockey jersey?

Because that's exactly what the Minnesota Wild just did, as they paid tribute to the now-retired Joe Mauer. The former Twins catcher and first baseman was not only on hand at the Xcel Energy Center to drop the puck before the Wild/Flyers game Tuesday night, and to model these cool new warm-jerseys during Joe Mauer Night.

It doesn't really get any more Minnesota than a Wild hockey jersey with the familiar blue Twins colors and logo on the front along with Joe Mauer's number 12 and name on the back, does it? While the Wild still sported their official jerseys during the game (which they ended up losing, 5-4), they DID wear these Joe Mauer tribute sweaters during warm-ups Tuesday night.

And those cool Mauer Wild jerseys are also helping off a good cause too. The Wild says the warm-up worn jerseys will all be autographed and auctioned off, too, with the proceeds benefitting the Crescent Cove, and the Minnesota Wild Foundation.
