The Last Time the Cubs Won The World Series, Here’s What Was Happening
It has been a long time since the Cubs won the World Series. A LONG time. First off, congrats to the Cubs and their fans. I've been a fan since I was a kid but not like a super fan. Never was a big fan of baseball but always thought if the Cubs won, cool.
The last time the Cubs won the World Series was 1908. They actually had a pretty good team, winning back to back championships.
It's been 108 years since their last trip to the series. Here's what was happening at that time.
Henry Ford Builds The Model T
Otherwise known as the "Tin Lizzie." It was a car meant for the working class to show that it's not just the rich that get to drive cars. Off the assembly line in 1908, the price was $850.
Theodore Roosevelt was President
A far cry from the politicians we're used to today. One of his many quotes was, "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."
Harry Houdini Was All The Rage
Back then, magicians didn't have the big budget productions and the benefit of editing. Houdini often took his "magic" to the streets to perform for big crowds.
Milton Berle was Born
Some of you may not even know who he was. He was an actor/comedian from the 50's up until his death in 2002. Check out Ratt's "Round and Round" video. My point is, this guy lived his entire life never having seen the Cubs in a World Series. And he lived to be 92.
Lyndon Johnson was Born
Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the office after President Kennedy was shot. Johnson died in 1973. Again, having never seen the Cubs in the World Series.
