Only three country singles released this year have been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. In order to receive the RIAA's gold designation, a recording must move 500,000 units (defined as one digital download or 150 digital streams), and according to Nash Country Daily, only Jason Aldean's "You Make It Easy," Brett Young's "Mercy" and Dan + Shay's "Tequila" have hit that milestone so far.

At this year's Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, Judy Dlugacz (pictured above) and Cris Williamson will be honored with the 2018 Jack Emerson Lifetime Achievement Award for Executive. The two founders of Olivia Records are pioneering women in Americana music, responsible for selling more than a million independent records from artists such as June Millington, Meg Christian and Williamson herself. “We are absolutely thrilled to honor Judy and Cris at our premier event of the year,” says Americana Music Association president Jed Hilly. “Without question, these two women exemplify the power of community and have paved the way for generations of women in music to be rightfully heard in this industry and valued for their artistic vision.” Dlugacz and Williamson will receive the award on Sept. 12, when the Americana Music Awards are hosted at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
