Pine Island, MN (KROC AM News) - Starting Wednesday at 7 a.m., crews will begin work on a Hwy 52 bridge, that will close the bridge send motorist on a detour for the day.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Wednesday, crews will be on the Goodhue County Road 11 bridge over Highway 52 at Pine Island. Motorists seeking to cross the bridge will be detoured:

  • Motorists on the east side of the bridge wanting to go southbound on Highway 52 can take the east frontage road south to Olmsted County Road 12 and exit onto Highway 52 southbound
  • Motorists on the east side of the bridge wanting to cross the bridge can go north on Highway 52 to the Highway 58 exit at Zumbrota and return southbound on Highway 52
  • Motorists on the west side wanting to cross the bridge or go northbound can travel southbound on Highway 52 to the next interchange, cross over and proceed north on Highway 52

The detour is expected to go throughout the day, but if crews finish work earlier the detour will be lifted. Crews are working on crack sealing work on the bridge deck.
