Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced Monday that bars and restaurants across the state were to close as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is interesting times, no doubt about it, with many people working from home and restaurants closing down their dine-in options. Take-out is still available for many of these restaurants, which is the best way to support these restaurants.

After chatting with Preston Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Kinnenberg about a new idea that she put together to help Preston residents, and residents across Southeast Minnesota continue to support the local businesses.

The Take-Out Blitz. It is a great idea that Gabby came up with that will house all of the hours, delivery/take-out options of Preston restaurants, along with phone numbers and online menus that residents/patrons can order from. You can check out all the details here. Remember, you safety and health are the number one concern. If you are able to support these businesses, this is a great way to do it, safely.

I had an opportunity to talk with Gabby about how the idea came to fruition, along with an update on Trout Days and other tourism-related news. You can check that out below:

If you know of any other towns across Southeast Minnesota that are participating in something similar, let us know! We would love to help spread the word.
