Yesterday, KFIL broadcasted the Three Rivers baseball game between Rushford-Peterson and Caledonia.

It was a cloudy, cool, breezy day with a bit of light rain at the start, but luckily things stayed dry throughout most of the contest. R-P struck early with 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately for the Trojans, that was all their offense could muster- even with plenty of chances as the game played on. Caledonia, after going down in order in the first inning, scored in every inning after. After the third, it was tied at three. Caledonia took the lead with one run in the fourth, then blew things open with four in the fifth inning, and closed the game out in six innings by scoring 5 runs without a single out being recorded. The mercy rule was in effect, and the game was over with the Warriors winning 13-3.

The top three hitters for Caledonia (Colton Lampert, Tanner Gran, and Casey Storlie) were a combined 7-for-11 at the plate, and scored seven of the 13 runs. They also contributed 5 RBIs. That's exactly what you want out of the top of the order!

The ‘Player of the Game’ for R-P was junior first baseman Ethan Anderson. He had two of the five hits collected for the Trojans, including a 2-run double to get the scoring started in the first inning. He also scored the third and final run for R-P. For Caledonia, it was freshman Casey Storlie. The young lefty started on the mound and pitched the first three innings for Cal, allowing the three runs- but none earned, three hits and striking out two. At the plate, he was 3-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Our next broadcast is Friday. We'll have baseball action featuring La Crescent at Chatfield on Cool 104.3 fm and kvgo1043.com.
