The Minnesota State Fair starts on Aug. 24 and there was an abrupt change in management.

Greg Harder, State Fair Livestock Manager, was let go. And the animals start arriving next week. According to KSTP, he was let go due to poor job performance.

Harder had been with the fair since 2015. Dr. Tom Hagerty, a livestock veterinarian at the fairgrounds, told KSTP that he worked closely with Harder coordinating when his team can examine the almost 4,000 animals that pass through the fairgrounds during the fair.

Fair officials issued a statement:

"The State Fair has a large team of expert livestock and public safety staff ready to welcome the animals to the fair."

They would not comment on specifics about Harder, citing personnel issues.
