Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Travel conditions have been deteriorating due to light snow across southern Minnesota this morning.

The State Patrol is already reporting the slick conditions may have contributed to at least one injury crash on I-35 in Steele County. 63-year-old Timothy Sletten was driving north on the freeway when his pickup slid into the ditch and rolled. The State Patrol says the crash occurred in Owatonna around 7:50 a.m. Sletten was transported to the Owatonna Hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reporting that many of the highways in the Rochester area, including sections of Highway 52, Highway 63, and Highway 14 are becoming partially covered by snow and ice. There are also a few highways, mainly in Southampton central and southwestern Minnesota, that are currently rated as completely snow and ice-covered.

The National Weather Service says the light snow responsible for the slippery driving conditions is expected to continue through much of the afternoon but less than an inch of accumulation is expected in the Rochester area.
