Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was a tragic ending today in the search for a missing Rochester man.

Austin police say the body of 72-year-old David Janson was recovered from the Cedar River in the vicinity of Marcusen Park this afternoon. A spokesman says the body matches Janson's description and documents belonging to him were found on the body.

Officials say volunteers searching for Janson reported making the discovery around 1 PM. There was nothing found at the scene to indicate foul play was involved and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of his death.

Janson had been missing since the night of October 23rd when he was seen purchasing gas for his vehicle at the Kwik Trip store at the corner of South Broadway and 20th Street Southwest in Rochester. It was later reported that he was seen in a surveillance video recorded at an Austin business. When Rochester police issued an alert about Janson on October 26th, it included information from his family that he was diabetic and without his medication.
