Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester City Council has given the green light to begin enforcing the new seasonal street parking ordinance that began last month.

Violators of the even/odd ordinance have been receiving advisories but beginning Dec. 3rd, tickets will be issued. Tickets may be issued earlier than that if there is a significant snow event. Warnings will be issued between now and Dec 3rd.

The ordinance was adopted to make snow removal and street cleaning more efficient.

Councilmember Michael Wojcik says there was positive feedback from city snowplow operators who were called out earlier this month to clear streets after more than four inches of snow fell.

The Council also gave the go-ahead to staff to move ahead with plans to lower the speed limit to 25 mph in residential neighborhoods.
