Rochester Police Trap Man Known For Fleeing Law Enforcement
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police say a man with a long history of fleeing law enforcement was arrested in Rochester yesterday while trying to elude capture.
Police Lieutenant Tom Faudskar says 54-year-old Brian Rathbun of Lewiston was wanted on multiple felony warrants when members of the Rochester Police Crime Interdiction Unit located him at the Willow Creek Campgrounds along Highway 63 South late Thursday morning and found him sitting in a pickup truck outside a camper.
Anticipating he would attempt to flee, the officers had blocked the only entrance and exit to the campground, and after discovering he had been trapped, Faudskar says Rathbun ended up driving recklessly through the property before he attempted to flee on foot. A K9 unit was brought to the scene and soon tracked down and detained him.
Lt. Faudskar says Rathbun was taken to St. Mary's hospital to be treated for a dog bite wound on his arm before he was booked into the Olmsted County jail. He was arraigned today on a felony count of fleeing police in a motor vehicle and, at last check, was being held on $20,000 bail.
