Rochester Police and Schools Team Up to Brighten the Holidays for Students
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department and Rochester Public Schools collaborated to brighten the holidays for students at Middle School Right Fit.
Utilizing Target's Heroes and Helpers programs, the school's 19 students received $100 to spend on gifts for themselves and their loved ones. The students shopped through Target.com and then officers picked up the purchases.
“Our goal is to deliver some cheer to families while fostering positive relationships with students. We’re pleased to partner with Rochester Public Schools to serve the community in this special way," Rochester Police Chief Jim Franklin said.
The students and officers will meet today to wrap the gifts while also enjoying a pizza party at the Middle School Right Fit, which is housed at the Boys and Girls Club in Rochester.
“I am proud of our students growth this year. This event is a rewarding way for our students to give to their families and loved ones, as well as to acknowledge their own development,” Assistant Principal of Middle School Right Fit Travis Bain said.
