Rochester Man Suffers Serious Head Injury in ATV Crash
Chester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man underwent emergency surgery Thursday for a serious head injury he suffered in an ATV crash.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says the accident happened around 5:30 PM on a rural road near Chester Woods Park.
Behrns says a patrol deputy noticed the ATV being driven by 21-year-old James Hart did not have a registration sticker. The deputy tried to stop Hart, who was driving about 50 mph and apparently unaware he was being followed. Behrns says when Hart turned his head and saw the deputy behind him, he lost control of the ATV and crashed. Hart was ejected and landed on his head on the roadway.
Behrns says the deputy suspected Hart had been smoking marijuana and a blood sample was taken.
